  • Top-ranked and reigning national and state champion EMCC features 13 players with postseason football honors

    Fresh off claiming a third straight MACJC state football championship and securing a spot in this year’s NJCAA eTeamSponsor Football National Championship, the top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College feature 13 players who have garnered postseason honors for their season-long individual efforts on the gridiron.  The 2018 NJCAA All-Region 23 and MACJC All-State football teams were officially announced Tuesday by the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges office headquartered in Jackson.
  • No. 1 EMCC Lions top No. 4 Jones 19-14 to claim third straight MACJC state championship

    The top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College parlayed a pair of big second-half scoring plays and three pass interceptions on defense into a hard-fought 19-14 road victory over No. 4 Jones College in the 2018 MACJC State/NJCAA Region 23 football championship game played Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.
  • EMCC’s Everitt Cunningham earns second MACJC Defensive Player of the Week honor

    East Mississippi Community College’s Everitt Cunningham has earned his second MACJC Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season for his efforts during the top-ranked Lions’ 31-7 state playoff home victory over nationally ranked Copiah-Lincoln this past Saturday at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field.

    The top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College have earned a shot at winning their third consecutive MACJC state football championship and seventh state title under head coach Buddy Stephens by claiming a 31-7 home victory over 16th-ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College during Saturday’s MACJC state semifinals played at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field. 
  • Two-time reigning state champion EMCC Lions to host No. 16 Co-Lin to kick off MACJC playoffs

    With a half-dozen MACJC state football championships to their credit during an ongoing nine-year span, the top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College (9-0) will begin their quest for a third straight state title Saturday afternoon on the Scooba campus by playing host to the 16th-ranked Wolves of Copiah-Lincoln Community College (6-3).  Kickoff for the state semifinal battle is set for 2 p.m. at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field.

    The top-ranked Lions of East Mississippi Community College battled a game Northeast Mississippi Community College squad and sloppy field conditions to finish the regular season at 9-0 and secure another outright MACJC North Division championship with Thursday’s 26-7 road win at Tiger Stadium.
  • Playoff-bound EMCC Lions to close out regular-season football slate at Northeast Mississippi

    Having secured their ninth MACJC North Division football title in 11 seasons under the guidance of head coach Buddy Stephens, the reigning national and state champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College (8-0, 5-0 MACJC North) will close out their regular-season slate by traveling to Booneville for Thursday’s road contest against the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers.  Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium on the NEMCC campus.

    The reigning national and state champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College secured the MACJC North Division’s No. 1 seed in the upcoming state playoffs with Thursday night’s 47-0 home shutout victory over Coahoma Community College at Sullivan-Windham Field.

    Coming off last week’s pivotal 34-6 road win over previously second-ranked Northwest Mississippi, the top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College return home to play host to Holmes Community College on Saturday afternoon as part of Homecoming 2018 festivities on the Scooba campus.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field.

    Thursday’s highly anticipated No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown between state championship foes from the past two years turned into a defensive showcase for the top-ranked and reigning national champion Lions of East Mississippi Community College.  With 17 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in holding second-ranked Northwest Mississippi to -20 yards rushing as a team on the night, EMCC stymied the home-standing Rangers, 34-6, in MACJC North Division action played at Bobby Franklin Field.

    A battle of division leaders will take place Thursday night in Decatur as the top-ranked Lions of East Mississippi Community College (4-0, 2-0 MACJC North) visit the 20th-ranked East Central Community College Warriors (3-1, 2-0 MACJC South) at the midway point of the MACJC’s regular-season football schedule.  Kickoff for the first gridiron meeting in five years between these two nationally ranked neighboring rivals is set for 6:30 p.m. at Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus.

    For the second time in as many weeks to begin the season, an East Mississippi Community College sophomore quarterback has earned MACJC Offensive Player of the Week football honors.  EMCC’s Vijay Miller has garnered this week’s recognition after subbing in for last week’s recipient Messiah deWeaver and leading the top-ranked Lions to a 59-10 road victory over Pearl River Community College last Thursday in Poplarville.

    No. 1-ranked East Mississippi Community College scored 38 unanswered points to overcome an early deficit en route to posting a 59-10 road triumph over Pearl River Community College Thursday evening at Dobie Holden Stadium.  EMCC’s decisive victory over the Wildcats gave 11th-year head coach Buddy Stephens his 100th career collegiate coaching win.

    Fresh off their 50-0 season-opening home victory over preseason 13th-ranked Hinds a week ago in Scooba, the reigning national champion and top-ranked Lions of East Mississippi Community College hit the road for the first time this football season by traveling to Poplarville to take on the Pearl River Community College Wildcats Thursday evening.  Kickoff at PRCC’s Dobie Holden Stadium is set for 6 p.m.  As a break for fans having to deal with Tropical Storm Gordon this week, Pearl River school officials have announced there will be no charge for admission into Thursday’s EMCC-PRCC contest.

    Preseason No. 1-ranked East Mississippi Community College successfully began defense of its fourth national championship with a dominating 50-0 home shutout victory over preseason 13th-ranked Hinds Community College during Thursday’s MACJC season-opening contest played at Sullivan-Windham Field on the Scooba campus.
