East Mississippi’s Ty Murphy selected to 2025 All-MACCC Baseball Second Team
East Mississippi Community College sophomore outfielder Ty Murphy has been named to the 2025 All-MACCC Baseball Second Team, as announced Wednesday by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC).
JACKSON – East Mississippi Community College sophomore outfielder Ty Murphy has been named to the 2025 All-MACCC Baseball Second Team, as announced Wednesday by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC).
As voted on by the head baseball coaches of the conference, this year' All-MACCC Baseball Team was comprised of 15-member first and second teams as well as 15 honorable mention selections. The respective teams consisted of four pitchers, four infielders and four outfielders as well as single picks for a relief pitcher, catcher and designated hitter.
Murphy, a former two-sport prep standout at Eupora High School, capped his two-year EMCC career by leading head coach Brett Kimbrel's EMCC Lions in several offensive hitting categories this past year, including batting average (.356), on-base percentage (.509) and slugging percentage (.542). Along with also posting team-best numbers with 37 runs scored and 33 bases on balls as a sophomore, Murphy ranked second or tied for runner-up team honors with 42 hits, 24 stolen bases in 27 attempts, four home runs and 28 runs batted in.
For his EMCC career as a 62-game starter, Murphy batted .331 with 20 extra-base hits divided between 13 doubles, four homers and three triples. He also had 57 runs scored, 43 RBIs and was 31-for-34 in career stolen base attempts. As a freshman for the 2024 Lions ballclub, Murphy hit .286 with eight extra-base hits and 15 RBIs.
Murphy's successful prep career on the diamond for the Eupora Eagles was capped by being named to the 2023 MHSAA Class 2A All-State Second Team as chosen by the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) as well as making the Class 1A/2A North squad for the 2023 Crossroads Diamond Club, Inc./D.M. Howie Mississippi High School All-Star Baseball Game.
As a senior quarterback at Eupora, Murphy was named the 2022 Region 2-2A Football Player of the Year and selected as the Starkville Daily News' Co-Offensive Player of the Year after amassing 3,556 yards of total offense and accounting for 42 total touchdowns. In addition to completing 109-of-174 (.626) passes for 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air that season, Murphy also rushed for 1,856 yards and 25 scores on the ground for the 12-3 Eagles.
Individual conference honors for the 2025 baseball season were swept by NJCAA Region 23 champion Pearl River Community College with Caston Thompson earning MACCC Baseball Player of the Year honors and teammate KK Clark collecting MACCC Pitcher of the Year accolades for the nationally second-ranked Wildcats.
