Michael Story
Bio

Returning for his third season on East Mississippi Community College’s football coaching staff, former Mississippi State University offensive lineman Michael Story was elevated to full-time status this past summer.

Story, a product of Ripley High School who spent five seasons (2015-19) with the MSU Bulldogs, will continue to primarily work with EMCC’s offensive linemen under the guidance of head football coach Buddy Stephens.

During his previous two seasons at EMCC, Story has helped mentor a pair of All-Region 23 offensive linemen in Braxton Goff (Tarleton State) and Kison Shepard (Mississippi State). Also under Story’s tutelage, former Lions Mike Wallace Jr. (Kennesaw State), Roscoe Tucker (ULM), Wes Thompson (Texas Rio Grande Valley) and SharDez Taylor (Alcorn State) have all moved along to the university level. Story’s coaching contributions the past two years have also proven beneficial for an EMCC offensive unit that has featured 2023 NJCAA All-America quarterback Ty Keyes in 2024 as well as NJCAA All-America running back Gavin Griffin a season ago.

Prior to arriving on the Scooba campus in advance of the 2024 football season, Story earned valuable coaching experience at his prep alma mater by helping develop Ripley High School’s offensive linemen while also assisting with the middle school football team. During his return to Ripley, he helped guide head coach Perry Liles’ Tigers to three consecutive Class 4A state playoff appearances. Story also spent one season coaching at Falkner High School.

A former three-star prospect and three-year starter on Ripley’s offensive line, Story moved on to be a part of five consecutive postseason bowl teams under the guidance of former Mississippi State head coaches Dan Mullen and Joe Moorhead. After redshirting the 2015 season, Story went on to play in 34 career games for the Bulldogs, including 11 appearances during his senior campaign.

Having divided his collegiate playing days developing under offensive line mentors John Hevesy and Marcus Johnson at Mississippi State, Story earned the honor of having played alongside two-time NFL Pro Bowl offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (Browns/Packers) and Charles Cross of the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks during their prior Starkville stints.

Story, the son of the late Loria Story, earned his undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Mississippi State in December 2018.
