EMCC’s Mike Farnell and Marcus Ragan chosen to MACJC All-State Baseball Team

East Mississippi Community College sophomores Mike Farnell and Marcus Ragan have been named to the 2017 MACJC All-State Baseball Team, as voted on by the respective head baseball coaches of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges.

The Lions of East Mississippi Community College banged out 15 hits to open Saturday’s road baseball doubleheader with an 11-7 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at Ken “Curly” Farris Field. In the nightcap, Bulldog left-hander Dylan Mills-Derouen limited EMCC to just three singles during a 3-0 complete-game shutout to earn the split.

Austin Lowther’s walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the eighth gave the Lions of East Mississippi Community College a 3-2 extra-inning, nightcap win to complete a Wednesday night home doubleheader sweep over Meridian Community College. EMCC tied a season high for runs and had 20 hits in the opener to begin the evening at Gerald Poole Field with an 18-6 run-rule victory over the visiting Eagles.

Competing against two NJCAA Division I opponents, EMCC swept Enterprise State (AL) Community College and split with host Northwest Florida State College.
