With postseason implications on the line, the East Mississippi Community College softball team will close out the regular season by playing host to Northwest Mississippi Monday afternoon during “Sophomore Day” on the Scooba campus. EMCC’s “Sophomore Day” softball DH with Northwest moved to Friday on Scooba campus

Due to continuing wet field conditions following Monday’s significant rainfall and the midweek threat of additional rain, East Mississippi Community College’s scheduled home softball doubleheader against Northwest Mississippi has been moved to Friday afternoon on the Scooba campus. With pre-game “Sophomore Day” recognitions set to begin at 3:30 p.m., Friday’s first pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at the EMCC Softball Field.

The visiting East Mississippi Community College softball team made an early 3-2 lead stand up during Monday’s opening game to earn an MACJC doubleheader split with Southwest Mississippi in a makeup twin bill postponed from earlier in the month due to rain. The home-standing Lady Bears returned the favor by holding on for an 8-7 victory over EMCC in the nightcap.

East Mississippi Community College successfully closed out its March home stand with a softball doubleheader sweep over Pearl River Community College in MACJC action Friday afternoon at the EMCC Softball Field. Following an 11-3 run-rule win over PRCC in the opener, the Lions completed the sweep with a 6-5 walk-off victory in the nightcap.

The East Mississippi Community College softball team broke even during this weekend's Rush Invitational hosted by Meridian Community College. After holding on to beat host MCC 6-3 and coming back to knock off Shelton State 7-6 in nine innings on Friday, the Lions dropped a tough 2-0 decision Saturday morning to preseason fourth-ranked Chipola College before concluding the two-day tournament at Northeast Park with an 8-6 afternoon setback to Copiah-Lincoln.
