Lady Lions fall at home to 13th-ranked Shelton State in return from holiday break

In their first game competition since Nov. 20, the home-standing EMCC Lady Lions found themselves down by double figures midway through the opening quarter on the way to trailing Shelton State, 31-11, after the opening 10 minutes of play.
EMCC managed to play the Lady Bucs to within single digits during the second (19-12) and third (17-11) quarters of action, but the reigning national runners-up finished with a 25-8 fourth-quarter effort en route to the 50-point road triumph.
Without a double-figure scorer in the game, the Lady Lions were led by sophomore guard Dukiaha Jones with nine points. Liberty Hughes and Cenaya Calhoun-Jingles added eight and seven points, respectively, for EMCC.
The Lady Bucs had four players score in double figures, led by Nadia Norfleet with a game-high 18 points. Ella Wheeler and Aryah Grace followed with 14 points apiece, while Alana Obianozie added 13 points for Shelton State.
Head coach Isaiah Butler's 3-5 EMCC Lady Lions will play host to MACCC foe Northwest Mississippi in a non-conference contest on Thursday (Dec. 4). Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at EMCC's Currie Coliseum on the Scooba campus.
